Carli Park is a community park that meets the many activity needs of the community. The sport and passive facilities include a Little League field, and are well-used by many groups. The one aging amenity of the park was the playground and seating area. The City of Santa Clara discussed the possibilities of developing this use area to be a code compliant-attraction for families. The play equipment was installed in the 1960s, and the overall playground had aged, and had been vandalized.
Verde Design worked with the City and a playground installation contractor to redesign the area to include new play equipment, perimeter curbs, walls, and pads with new benches for observation and gathering. With the new play equipment, the area increased in size, requiring grading, new planting and adjustments to irrigation. The result of Verde Design’s involvement in Carli Park was a space that enhanced the community and provided more areas for play.
