In 2015, Verde Design completed its design work at Bear Creek High School for the District and has since been engaged to offer landscape architectural planning and design services as part of the Measure U Bond Program. Our team developed comprehensive master plans and created site designs along with construction documents for the track and field enhancement projects at Tokay and McNair High Schools. These initiatives included the transformation of a natural grass football field into a synthetic turf surface, which is marked for both football and soccer use. Furthermore, the Verde Design team prioritized accessibility by ensuring convenient access to the nearby parking lots. Each project adhered to a scope of work established by the District, and all designs and improvements comply with the standards set by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
Bear Creek High School: The project involved the conversion of the current natural grass stadium field to synthetic turf through a Lease-Leaseback approach. Additionally, it encompassed the installation of new perimeter drainage systems, the creation of designated areas for pole vaulting and shot put, the establishment of a permanent discus cage, and the resurfacing of the existing track.
McNair High School: The previously existing cinder track has been transformed into an eight-lane all-weather track surface, which now includes additional space for new field events and the installation of track fencing. This enhancement is designed to accommodate the needs of the school’s 1,700 students more effectively and to improve the overall quality of its athletic program.
Tokay High School: The current all-weather track underwent significant enhancements, being expanded into an eight-lane surface that accommodates additional field events and track fencing. To facilitate a broader soccer field, the long jump and triple jump pits were repositioned. The upgrades also featured the installation of modern LED lighting for both the sports field and pathways, a new scoreboard, renovations to restroom facilities, and the addition of storage space. Furthermore, the previous bleachers were removed to pave the way for the construction of new seating that can accommodate 4,116 spectators, along with a press box designated for the home team.
