The Hayward Unified School District projects involved the conversion of a natural grass field and cinder track to an all-weather synthetic turf and track surface at three high school sites. The project also involved new bleacher seating for spectators, sports field lighting, score board, restrooms, concession and ticketing buildings, and accessible walkways.
HAYWARD HIGH SCHOOL: A unique design feature of the Hayward High School project is the entrance to the stadium from the ticket booth. Spectators passing through the gates are greeted with an elevated view of the field and the San Francisco Bay, off in the distance. Guests then proceed down a long ramp to the bleachers, track and field, and restrooms. The project was delivered through a Lease-Leaseback delivery method and awarded 2018 Track & Field of the Year by the American Sports Builders Association Awards.
MT. EDEN HIGH SCHOOL: The improvements at Mt. Eden provided a new parking lot expansion and formal entrance sequence for the athletic campus. The stadium improvements now enable future baseball and softball venues to share the stadium’s plaza, concessions, and restroom building. The project also included new 2,700-seat bleachers, and a new team room.
TENNYSON HIGH SCHOOL: A key element of Tennyson High School’s stadium was providing connections from the other athletic venues to the amenities, which connect the stadium, and includes the pressbox, concession building, and ticketing booth.
