In 2021, the City of Roseville selected Verde Design to lead the design of the Placer Valley Soccer Complex, originally planned as a 31-acre facility with six full-sized lighted soccer fields and parking for 95 stalls per field. During early design, the City acquired an additional 20 acres, expanding the vision to create a premier regional tournament destination designed to support high-demand shoulder-season play.
The completed complex now spans more than 50 acres and includes ten full-sized synthetic turf soccer fields with sports lighting to support year-round play. A central north–south pedestrian promenade separates the fields and serves as the primary circulation spine, featuring shade structures with misters, bar-height tables, and gathering areas for players, coaches, officials, and spectators. Additional misting poles provide cooling around the fields, while select fencing and netting help contain soccer balls and improve safety. All fields are permanently striped for full-size soccer, with additional striping for U12 and U10 play, and can also accommodate sports such as lacrosse, flag football, and quadball. Two major gathering plazas anchor the complex at the north and south ends of the site. Each plaza includes restrooms, concession facilities with tournament or officials’ rooms, shaded picnic seating, food truck parking, and recreational games such as cornhole, table tennis, and foosball. Shade trees, public art—including a mural wall and sculptural feature—and public Wi-Fi enhance the visitor experience throughout the facility.
At the northern end of the site, a one-acre all-inclusive playground—the largest in Roseville—was developed through extensive community engagement. Workshops and interactive outreach sessions allowed families and children to share input that directly informed the final design. The complex also includes a maintenance yard on the northeast side of the site that serves as the City’s primary maintenance hub for western Roseville. The yard includes an office building, vehicle parking, wash station, trash enclosure, and material storage areas to support efficient facility operations.
Verde Design provided programming, conceptual design, cost analysis, construction documentation, and bidding support for the project, and assisted the City with construction administration for the synthetic turf fields, including base rock conformance surveys and permeability testing. Design began in 2021, construction started in June 2023, and the complex officially opened on November 21, 2025, with more than 2,500 attendees celebrating the launch of Roseville’s premier regional soccer destination.
