At Butte College, the existing 440-yard track had fallen into disrepair. Portions of all-weather surfacing were missing and the facility was unusable for competition. In addition, the existing POT and restrooms were in need of renovation to meet current code. Verde Design was selected by the District to simultaneously assemble documents for the necessary renovations with the bid documents for the track. The District was able to fund the ADA-improvements from a separate fund and accept the base bid with all of the alternates and purchase the all-weather surfacing. By using the most efficient delivery methods for each portion of construction, we saved the overhead costs of a single prime bid. In addition, we worked within an extremely tight schedule sandwiched between graduation and the start of football.
