Cabrillo College / Aptos

Cabrillo College selected Verde Design for the comprehensive redesign of the Carl Conley Stadium field, which has recently undergone significant renovations. The project specifically targeted the issues of inadequate drainage and an undersized outfall that plagued the original field. Additionally, the synthetic turf system, which had reached the end of its operational lifespan, was replaced with a modern pad system beneath the turf. This upgrade not only enhances player safety but also complements the newly implemented drainage improvements. The robust nature and efficient drainage capabilities of the synthetic turf ensure that the field can endure extensive use while minimizing the number of playable days lost during periods of heavy rainfall.

Furthermore, the renovation included the installation of new collection trenches that work in conjunction with the existing drainage system. These trenches are designed to swiftly evacuate water from the field surface, while also serving as a reservoir for stormwater, allowing for its collection, storage, and controlled release. This strategic approach was adopted to ensure compatibility with the pre-existing drainage infrastructure, thereby enhancing the overall functionality of the stadium field.
