Kezar Stadium Track / San Francisco

In collaboration with the City of San Francisco and the local athletic community, Verde Design undertook a comprehensive renovation of the historic Kezar Stadium track, enhancing its current functionalities while also preparing it for future requirements.

Kezar Stadium, established in 1925, is a significant sports landmark in the Bay Area, having served as the original home for both the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders during the 1960s. Following its demolition and subsequent reconstruction in 1989, a new track was installed to replace the original.

The renovation involved the installation of a Mondo Super X720 13.5mm running surface, transforming the track into a nine-lane all-weather facility compliant with the standards set by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). The project also included repaving the track to achieve a new maximum cross slope of 1%, along with the addition of perimeter trench drains, long and triple jump pits equipped with sand catchers, and a newly designated shot put throwing area.
