The City of San Jose selected Verde Design to provide professional services for their Lake Cunningham Regional Park project. The bike park is located on the upper knoll of a 270-acre regional park, adjacent to and surrounding the skate park, which was also designed by the Verde team. The skate park is the largest regional skate facility west of the Mississippi, with the world’s largest cradle, tallest vertical wall, and longest full pipe – all of which are Guinness World Records. The new bike park is expected to secure Lake Cunningham Regional Park as the premier outdoor adventure sports park in California. The City is excited to host community and larger scale events and bike races at the new bike park when it is completed. The Verde Design team assisted the City through community meetings and focus group workshops that were held to discuss the specific location of the skate park on a 10-acre site within Lake Cunningham Park. During these meetings, Verde Design facilitated collaboration to customize the design of the skate bowl and street facilities to meet the needs of the local skate community. The Verde team worked with the City to develop a revised master plan, programming, and project budgeting plan to meet its project goals and ensure seamless integration of future utilities and bike park features. The project also includes joining the bike park to the surrounding slopes that connect Lake Cunningham, the park, and native gardens.
