AFE Sports selected to partner with Verde Design, capitalizing on our firm’s extensive knowledge in the design of parks and athletic facilities, to create the landscape architecture and civil engineering plans essential for the establishment of a five-a-side soccer and futsal court at the existing Cesar Chavez Campesino Park in Santa Ana. Throughout the design process, the absence of accessible record drawings, up-to-date topographical data, and drainage information posed significant challenges; consequently, aerial imagery emerged as the primary resource for formulating the design framework. The newly completed field is anticipated to enhance the growing interest in futsal within the region, with projections indicating that the focus on futsal could increase the number of available playing venues from approximately 15 to 45 over the next two years. Additionally, the typical costs associated with constructing a futsal field are estimated to be around 10% of those required for a standard soccer field.
