Verde Design collaborated with the City of Burlingame’s Parks and Recreation Department to enhance two softball fields at Ray Park. In partnership with City officials, we meticulously developed a design that adhered to municipal standards regarding ADA accessibility, safety for players and spectators, and the specific dimensions of the playing fields. To accommodate the natural topography of the site, we implemented a series of retaining walls and elevated curbs, which facilitated the creation of playing surfaces, spectator areas, team dugouts, warm-up bullpens, and ensured compliance with ADA regulations.
Furthermore, the Verde Design team contributed their expertise in irrigation design, undertaking a renovation of the existing City irrigation system to ensure efficient watering and management for the natural grass, sloped plantings, and infield materials. Throughout the project, access and safety were paramount considerations, leading us to collaborate closely with City officials to establish suitable fencing and gate designs that prioritized the safety of players and spectators while also aligning with the maintenance practices of the City.
