
Los Gatos Union School District selected Verde Design to design new student courtyards and unique areas for three of their elementary schools.
BLOSSOM HILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – New accessible colored concrete pathways, synthetic turf, natural turf, seat walls and trees. New waiting area improvements included colored concrete paving, tree grates, flagstone pavers, bricking paving, and bench seating. Included utility improvements to the irrigation and storm drainage.
DAVES AVENUE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – New mixed surface accessible outdoor corridors included synthetic turf, colored concrete paving, concrete seat walls, and redwood benches around new tree plantings. Improvements to the kindergarten area included a new sand pit play area with sand pit play furnishings, concrete retaining wall with decorative fence, large shade sail, resilient playground surfacing around the existing playground structure, and permeable resilient surfacing with stump seating for an outdoor learning space. Also included utility improvements to the irrigation and storm drainage connection from building downspouts.
LOUISE VAN METER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – New accessible exterior corridors included synthetic turf, colored concrete paving, brick pavers, and planter beds with curb mounted custom bench seating. Verde Design also designed a new life lab area adjacent to the existing play fields that included a 6’ tall fenced in area with new decomposed granite surfacing, permeable resilient surfacing, accessible raised planter beds, and stump seating for an outdoor learning space. Also included utility improvements to the irrigation and storm drainage connections from building downspouts.
