Verde Design developed master plans and designed renovations for athletic facilities for the Monterey and Seaside High School campuses. Verde was initially retained to design improvements to the stadium fields at both high schools. The scope of our work was then expanded to include the Monterey campus softball, field hockey, and soccer/multi-use fields. At the Seaside High School campus, we renovated the stadium field, used for football and soccer.

The Monterey High School project replaces an existing synthetic turf football field in phase one and adds a synthetic multi-use athletic complex and weight rooms in phase two. We reduced costs by salvaging the existing home bleachers, built around 1917. The new synthetic multi-use field brings much needed space back to the school for a variety of sports programs.

The primary improvement for the stadium field at Seaside High School was replacing the existing natural grass field with synthetic turf and all-weather track. The synthetic turf is permanently lined for football, soccer, and field events. It includes a permanent school logo at the center of the 50-yard line, and end zone lettering. Synthetic turf was selected for the field because it will stand up to the intense use of the field, permit more hours of play, and save the District money by reducing water use and maintenance costs.
