Sea View Elementary School, located in Salton City, had a sports field that had fallen into disuse for several years due to an inoperative irrigation system and the considerable presence of large stones on the surface. Additionally, the field faced complications from burrowing rodents, which further hindered its usability. To address these issues, Verde Design proposed a comprehensive plan that involved excavating 12 inches of topsoil to effectively screen out the stones and create a suitable playing surface.
As a preventive measure against damage caused by ground squirrels and gophers, a deepened perimeter curb was installed beneath the field fencing. Furthermore, a concrete walking path was constructed around the natural grass field, and new shade trees were planted to enhance the area. To ensure the successful operation of the irrigation system, an irrigation pump was also incorporated to provide the necessary water pressure.
