In 2008, Verde Design was selected by Santa Clara Unified School District to undertake the design of an all-weather track and enhance the surrounding facilities at Wilcox High School. This comprehensive project encompassed the renovation of D-zone areas, the modernization of the field irrigation system, the installation of fencing, and various hardscape enhancements. Additionally, Verde Design developed a conceptual layout aimed at accommodating future expansions and projects at Wilcox. As part of the upgrades to ensure ADA compliance, the project included the installation of a trench drain and an asphalt pathway encircling the perimeter.
More recently, the District once again engaged Verde Design to improve the athletic fields at Wilcox High School. This project involved replacing the existing natural grass field with state-of-the-art synthetic turf, alongside essential utility upgrades, including drainage, irrigation, and electrical conduit for both the stadium and multi-purpose fields. Furthermore, the design team implemented minor adjustments to the softball dugout and fencing, replaced drinking fountains, and modified or relocated the football goal posts. The project also featured enhancements to ensure ADA compliance regarding pathways, parking, and restroom facilities. The stadium field was marked for multiple sports, including lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, and football, while the multi-use field was designated for softball, baseball, soccer, practice football, field hockey, and lacrosse.
