We are excited to share the news of Rico Lardizabal’s return to Verde Design. With a robust background as a landscape architect and project manager, Rico brings over 25 years of extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. He previously contributed to Verde Design before dedicating the last decade to working with City of Fremont. His diverse portfolio includes a wide array of projects such as parks, plazas, playgrounds, sports facilities, trails, streetscapes, and landscapes within right-of-way areas. Beyond his design expertise, Rico has also evaluated numerous private residential, commercial, and industrial projects, which has equipped him with valuable insights into development requirements and the intricacies of project processes.

Rico’s extensive background provides Verde Design with a significant advantage in crafting innovative and sustainable solutions. He has cultivated meaningful relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders, including city officials, recreation professionals, engineers, planners, developers, contractors, and maintenance teams, which facilitates seamless project coordination and effective problem resolution. His collaborative efforts with maintenance personnel have sharpened his ability to design public spaces that harmoniously integrate aesthetics, functionality, sustainability, and durability. Beyond his professional commitments, Rico actively participates in basketball and softball leagues and has taken on the role of coach and team manager for his daughter’s sports teams. His travels to various sports parks across the country have enriched his understanding and expertise in creating dynamic, community-oriented facilities that foster engagement and well-being.
