Students at Tokay and McNair High Schools recently received significant upgrades to their athletic facilities, as part of the Lodi Unified School District’s (District) Measure U program. Both projects involved the conversion of a natural grass football field to synthetic turf, striped for both football and soccer. Additionally, the campuses will benefit from increased accessibility to the adjacent parking lots. Each project was based on a scope of work previously identified by the District, and all designs and upgrades meet NFHS standards.
At McNair High School the existing cinder track was converted to an eight-lane all-weather track surface, with added space for new field events, and track fencing. This will help the school meet the needs of its 1,700 students and better serve its athletic program.
As part of the Tokay High School project, the existing all-weather track was widened and converted to an eight-lane all-weather track surface, with space for new field events and track fencing. The long jump and triple jump pits were relocated to allow for a wider soccer field. Improvements also included new LED sport field and pathway lighting, a new scoreboard, restroom upgrades, and new storage space. The existing bleachers were demolished, making way for new 4,116-seat bleachers and a press box for the home side.
