Verde Design is currently engaged in the development of two new community parks located in Southern California, specifically in Cathedral City and the Town of Apple Valley. The two new community park initiatives are aimed at enhancing recreational spaces for local residents. These projects are designed to provide diverse outdoor activities and promote community engagement, reflecting a commitment to improving the quality of life in the region.

In 2020, Verde Design undertook the conceptual planning for a 7.5-acre community park situated along the seasonal Whitewater River in Cathedral City. This park is designed to feature trail connections that will link to the region’s master-planned CV Link trail, which serves as an alternative transportation route for the Coachella Valley. The proposed design encompasses a variety of amenities, including a multi-use natural grass open space, a futsal court, a central plaza, restroom facilities, two covered play areas, fitness stations, two basketball courts, a dog park, picnic shelters, picnic tables, walkways, benches, and two designated parking areas. Recently, the City has engaged our services to finalize the development of this project, and we are currently in the process of preparing construction drawings, with the park anticipated to open in late 2024.

Verde Design was also engaged to deliver design services for a 12-acre community park in the Town of Apple Valley. This site, which had formerly served as sports fields and featured a decomposed granite track, was leased from the school district and had deteriorated over time. Recognizing its potential, the town chose this property to apply for Proposition 68 State Grant Funding aimed at establishing a new park. The state subsequently awarded funding to the Town to create a recreational facility that would benefit the underserved community. In response, Verde Design’s multi-disciplinary team has developed various conceptual master plan options that align with the allocated budget, and they are currently in the process of preparing the construction drawings.
