To meet the needs of Modesto’s growing soccer community, Verde Design developed Phase I of Grogan Park, featuring a 7-field soccer complex with related entry infrastructure, plaza areas, and concession, restroom, and team buildings. Three of the fields are state of the art, synthetic turf with the central synthetic turf field designed as stadium field. This field, located directly adjacent to the entry plaza, was engineered to be slightly lower in order to enhance sight lines into the stadium and create a grand first impression as patrons enter the complex. North of the synthetic fields are four natural turf fields that utilize the latest breed of hybrid Bermuda grass for increased resistance to wear and a longer season. We designed an efficient irrigation system for the fields, as well as the landscaping, and a slit sand drainage system to improve turf quality and play. All seven fields, totaling 26 acres, are lighted for night play. The local soccer youth group, MYSA, are the primary users of the park with their own office building along with the restroom and concession buildings. Partnering with the City and local clubs, we also assisted in sponsorship and fundraising. Now capable of holding local and regional tournaments, Grogan Park is the largest premier sports park in Modesto. Learn More >
