WorkinHelms5g with Baker Vilar Architects and Bothman Construction, Verde Design helped to deliver a new 8-lane all-weather running track, two synthetic turf fields, hard courts, and parking for the civic community center adjacent to Helms Middle School. Requiring stringent stormwater filtration, the team utilized a number of strategies including bioswales, collection basins, and stone base filtration to treat all the water from the synthetic turf fields and hardcourts before entering the stormwater system. The shape of the track needed to be adapted to fit the constrained dimensions while keeping the 400m distance. A modified broken-back geometry was required to fit the short dimensions of the long axis utilizing a compound curve rather than the traditional single radius. Learn more >
