Manteca High School, Manteca – Outstanding Outdoor Track & Field Facility of the Year
Manteca High School’s track and field stadium project represents a pivotal element of a broader $42 million renovation initiative aimed at revitalizing the entire campus infrastructure to accommodate the needs of its growing student body, which has surpassed 1,800 individuals. This ambitious undertaking underscores the District’s dedication to creating a safe, functional, and forward-thinking educational environment that will benefit both present and future students. The design and construction of the new all-weather track, complemented by a natural grass field, as well as enhancements to landscaping and overall site improvements, were managed by Verde Design, ensuring that the facility not only meets current standards but also anticipates the evolving demands of athletic and educational activities.

Venture Academy, Stockton – Distinguished Single Field Facility Award
Verde Design collaborated with the San Joaquin County of Education (SJCOE) to develop plans for replacing a natural grass field with a three-lane all-weather track and synthetic athletic field at Venture Academy. The design encompasses not only the track and field but also features ornamental perimeter fencing, an elevated viewing platform with five rows of portable bleachers, a new overhead entry sign, a digital scoreboard, protective netting, drainage enhancements, and sports field furnishings. As Venture Academy is a charter school, it is exempt from the California Education Code’s Field Act provisions, resulting in no oversight from DSA. Additionally, the SJCOE-owned site operates without local jurisdiction or authority, meaning there is no oversight from city or county building departments. The only necessary approvals were a Fire, Life, and Safety review from the Stockton fire marshal and an encroachment permit from the City of Stockton Engineering office. To maintain the quality and integrity of the plans, the client engaged a third-party review consultant. Verde Design’s construction cost estimates were impressively accurate, falling within 2% of the average contractor bids and just 4% of the lowest bid.

Palomar College, San Marcos – Multi-Field Facility Bronze Award
In collaboration with HMC Architects, our team is excited to announce the successful completion of two cutting-edge athletic facilities at Palomar College in San Marcos. Verde Design was engaged as a design consultant to develop construction drawings for a comprehensive multi-sport complex, which includes a state-of-the-art synthetic turf football field and stadium, alongside a modern softball field equipped with enhanced training resources. With these new facilities now in use, Palomar College’s football team can host home games on campus for the first time, marking a significant achievement for the program, which is the largest within the Comets Athletics organization, serving around 200 student-athletes annually, along with 11 coaches and support staff. Additionally, the College’s renowned softball program, which has secured eight consecutive titles in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, will greatly benefit from the upgraded facilities, featuring expanded seating and improved practice areas that foster an optimal environment for its talented athletes.
